Amp Shop Opening
In October of 1973,
DISCO TECH opened its doors on Milwaukee's East Side. It was my first foray into self employment.
I was repairing guitars and guitar amps for friends and bandmates when
I decided to set up a storefront repair shop.
The community had lots of musicians, but no music store, so DISCO TECH
also hawked guitar strings, parts, and accessories at DISCOunt prices.
We also sold instruments and gear for our customers on consignment.
Here we are on Milwaukee Wisconsin's Lower East Side, on Farwell Avenue at Ogden
Street.
That's two blocks from Lake Michigan's western shore, 80 miles north of Chicago.
